Ankle & Foot Pain

Ankles are the foundations of the structural support system for your body. An with such a vital role on a daily basis they can become sources of pain or injury.  Ankles an intricate and delicate array of bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles.

You can feel pain along the inside or outside of your ankle or along the Achilles tendon at the back of the ankle. While mild ankle pain commonly responds well to home treatment and rest -- it can take time to resolve. Severe pain at the should be evaluated by a physician, especially if following an injury.

When ligaments that secure the bones of the ankle joint together become partially torn or stretched, such as with a moderate to severe sprain or with repeated minor sprains, the ligaments can in turn become painful, loose, and weak.  This could lead to instability and change how you walk, and thereby place painful stress on other joints of the foot.  This can also make it more likely that you could sprain the ankle again -- leading to a cycle of chronic pain and chronic instability.
